Association

An intellectual's paradise, it might be called. The Association is in the business of collecting knowledge, and prizes that above all else. Its leaders represent some of the most intelligent men and women in the known galaxies. Where else are intelligence levels used to decided crucial elections? This paradise may not last forever, unless the Association can show that it is also smart on defense too. They'll need it against the Shadows.
The Lost

Without ties that bind or obligations to anyone, every Lost civilization is unique and independent from the rest of the universe. Finding no common ground with the other factions, the Lost have decided to eke out an existence cut off from the major ruling powers, and have to deal with the hardships of a sometimes harsh and unforgiving universe by themselves. Often occupied more with survival than ideals, the Lost will always have a hard uphill battle ahead of them. They will begin in the Core of Alpha without a faction homeworld and also lacking many of the Faction mechanisms.
Genesis

For years now, the Genesians have lived at the edge of mankind's shadow, practicing their goal of achieving the perfect lifeform through genetic manipulation. Still plagued by their rapid growth and death (a result of their race's birth in antimatter) the Genesians believe they have finally put a foot onto the path towards longevity. But now the Shadows are coming, and all that lays in jeopardy.
Crusaders

For these righteous followers of the path of the angel Xanaphia, being priests of Unitology held little in the way of excitement. Fed up with the slow rate of conversion that was achieved with traditional Church practices, the Crusaders broke from the men of Unitology, preferring to bring converts through conquering. The military might of the Crusaders is strong and ready, but it will be put to the test by the forces of the Shadows, and all the Crusaders have wrought may be undone.
